The practice is deliberately small. When you ring, you speak to me. When the inspection happens, I am the person standing in the property.
I inspect the property, write your report and remain available afterwards if you want to talk through anything I’ve found. Nothing is passed to a panel, and no one else picks up the file halfway through.
That also means I can say when a cheaper survey is the sensible one. The right survey for the property — not simply the most expensive one.
First-time buyer? You can talk through the findings afterwards, in plain language, for as long as it takes.
Local knowledge
Sheffield stone, Victorian terraces, gritstone cottages, back-to-backs, 1930s semis, heavily altered houses and Derbyshire rural stock all behave differently. So do the repairs that have been carried out on them over the last century.
Different buildings fail in different ways. Local experience helps put what I find into proportion — a hairline crack in a stone gable is not the same thing in a 1900 terrace as it is in a 1970s extension.
That judgement is the part of a survey you cannot get from a checklist, and it is why the same surveyor inspects and writes every report.

Valuations
A RICS-compliant (Red Book) valuation gives a considered, independent opinion of market value — not an estate agent’s asking price.
Valuations of this kind are commonly required for:
01
Call or send me the address.
02
A date that fits your purchase timetable.
03
A detailed professional inspection appropriate to the survey level you have chosen.
04
With the option to discuss the findings with me afterwards.
